Gail Hester

Gail Hester is a pioneering advocate for cannabis reform in Australia, blending her background in surgical nursing with a deeply personal mission. After losing her daughter, Sarah, to bowel cancer, Gail turned her grief into action, founding the Medical Cannabis Users Association of Australia (MCUA), now a thriving community of over 19,000 members. In 2017, she co-founded the Canna Nannas, educating seniors across the east coast on the medicinal benefits of cannabis and the health advantages of hemp.

Gail’s advocacy reached new heights in 2020 when she co-founded the Legalise Cannabis Queensland Party, which she has since expanded to Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria and her home state of New South Wales, securing five legislative council seats. Driven by a vision of accessible, holistic healthcare, Gail is transforming Sarah’s legacy into a movement for healing and legal reform, championing the right to safe, legal access to cannabis across Australia.
